Hipstamomentics

Friday February 18th, 2011, 0:32

I dedicated to delight myself by moving all my iPhone photos on my computer.  These snaps are taken over a long period of time and I had flicked them through a couple of times on my  phone, but it wasn’t until I saw them all at the same time on my computer that I started noticing some slight patterns and  comparisons among them. I just had to start working on this collage wall out of them immediately.

My phone has become a real important instrument in my photography. It’s not so much that I’d find the photos particularly compelling, but it’s always with me. Also, the whole mind-setting in shooting with a phone is different when compared to actual cameras: the photo is immediately ready and no one (not me nor anyone else) has much expectations on final product. If I ever pretend to be taking snapshots with my Nikon there’s always certain amount of planning, trying, evaluating, trying again and post-processing and -evaluating involved. With iPhone it’s pure and simple. And in the end there’s a lot of pleasant surprises, when the photos actually turn out quite nice.

I use Hipstamatic application for that very purpose, it’s my way of distancing myself from my usual photographing process and maneuvers. It reminds me that it doesn’t have to be all that serious – not always at least.

Police academy – the first assigment

Few shots from POLAMK. I truly wished that the place would have been more like the Police Academy in the movies (you know, characters like trigger-happy Tackleberry and that screaming dude), but unfortunately this wasn´t the case – unless they did a good job hiding it all. And as always, I got excited and went too close while they were training the use of physical force and was almost overrun by a enormous target man. But if you need the angles what can you do.

When it comes to my recent activities I´ve been quite busy with my MA and doing some occasional freelancing here and there. The winter seems to go on and on and I´m quite fed up with it. Enough of this frozen Blashyrkh kindom.

Self again

I’m gonna push some borders here and go totally off. We’ve been keeping up this journalistic note here and for a jolly good reason, we consider ourselves journalists. I decided to put that aside this time (as well?) and post whatever I like.

I’ve been really keen on taking pictures of myself lately and I try my best not to think what the hell does that mean. I hope nothing.

But it’s probably something.
